I wasn't sure this actually come to pass.

I thought this day would never arrive. After years of struggling with engine and other mechanical problems, I really had begun to question whether or not Project Responder would ever really be ready for prime time. It seems that the truck has finally arrived.

I took the truck to the Route 66 Car Club's Annual Father's Day Car Show in St. Clair yesterday and the truck, even with the tank half full and pulling a trailer, ran like a dream. I had four small lean pops on the way out, but nothing on the way back from the show and I was not going easy on it. I figured the only way to know if it's going to make the grade is to push it hard. And so I did. The power this truck has now with the re-engineered motor, the new Dana 80 with 4.30 gears and  the 40" tires, is absolutely amazing. I was able to easily keep up with traffic and even pass the semi's going up hill. It was quite a thrill (no pun intended)!

And to top it all off, Project Responder won first place in the Modified Truck Division for '75 through '89. It was a hot, hot day and the truck was a superstar, finally. This will finally be the year of the truck!
